I had this exact discussion with two guys at our last Eve meet. (turns out I was the villain of the whole bunch, weird) That's exactly it though, if having your ship ganked, or getting scammed, or whatever, is enough to make you leave the game, you would have left eventually, and we're just making sure that you don't waste any more of your time here than you need to. If however, you are the victim of one of those above listed events and you remain in Eve, you are stronger for it and your eyes are now open to what Eve is really all about. Veers is just the opposite end of the spectrum from us really, he's a bad guy who sees himself as a good guy. Whereas we're good guys, who actively make ourselves out to be the bad guys.

oh yeah it does of course but you need to shoot them in the face first for a couple of reasons.
1) you need to be sure they can take a loss without sperging death threats to you and/or your loved ones and/or your/their dog
2) its the best way to get their attention and show them you know what you are talking about
3) shows them immediately and on no uncertain terms that the predator role is available and supported by the game mechanics
4) related to 1) will give you a good indicator as to whether or not they are worth your time.

1) i don't gank, all my kills are legitimate even by your standards (not saying ganks aren't legitimate, they are)
2) why would i spend any of my precious ingame time generating content for a philistine like you when you haven't the least bit of appreciation for the game play involved, and make no mistake veers that's exactly what you are in eve.
3) you are clearly desperate for the attention , its much more satisfying knowing you are getting none of it
